Provision of an Energy Performance Certificate requires an energy assessor to attend the property and carry out a survey to determine the energy rating of the property.
The survey will include many of the properties features including the type of construction, insulation levels, heating systems, lighting, the type of glazing, dimensions and many other items. When this information is entered into the RDSAP software system an energy rating is produced for the property as well as an Energy Performance Certificate.
This procedure is an assessment which might provide recommendations for ways to improve the performance of the building and thereby reduce its energy consumption.
These procedures are defined by the Department for Communities and Local Government and managed by the assessors accreditation bodies.
